AVAILABLE 6-WEEK COURSES

Providing 6 week long courses, 90-minute session per week. Over zoom, a small group of parents will be discussing support strategies to manage them. In this safe space, parents are encouraged to share the challenges they are facing.

We are here to support and guide without judgement, helping you to recognise all the positives and negatives that come along with parenting. Reminding you that you are not alone on this journey.

Each week you will receive online information pack from The Adventures of Parenting containing different tips, strategies and tasks which we will work through together over the course

When training and consultations are finished we won't leave you high and dry, we will make regular contact and anything you should need, we are always here to support you.

If there is anyone who would like to return and join further training courses and workshops there will be a special discount.

COURSE INFORMATION


Encouraging Positive Behaviour Price: £300

Week 1 – Understanding your child’s behaviour

Learning Outcomes: What triggers your child, factors that impact the child’s behaviour, managing outbursts and biting.

Homework: Negative to Positive exercise

Week 2 – Role of the adult

Learning Outcomes: Impact of turning negative to positive, how to respond.

Homework: Think about your child’s environment; overstimulating; too much or too little; is child bored?

Week 3 – The environment

Learning Outcomes: Understanding how the environment impacts the child’s, creating enabling environments.

Homework: Observe your child’s communication and language and how it can be supported effectively.

Week 4 – Communication and Language

Learning Outcomes: The importance of your interactions, what is active listening, learn about Makaton.

Homework: Trying basic Makaton at home.

Week 5 – Emotions and Wellbeing

Learning outcomes: Understanding your child’s emotional wellbeing, how to support the well-being of the whole family.

Homework: As a family, discuss your family values and working towards goals and how they can be achieved.

Week 6 – Connecting as a family

Learning outcomes: How each week's topics connect in an all-round view of encouraging positive behaviour within your family and your child.

Special Educational Needs and Disability Price: £300

Week 1 - What is SEND?

Learning Outcomes: Understand what send means, learn about the SENCO and what the parent’s role is.

Homework: What is your understanding of different conditions or diagnosis that falls under SEND?

Week 2 – What falls under SEND?

Learning Outcomes: Understanding of behaviour and social interactions, autism, ADD and mental health, communication and language, physical needs.

Homework: Observe how your child behaves. Consider if they laugh, cry, watch, are confident, are shy?

Week 3 – Strategies to support your child

Learning Outcomes: Learn about the importance of boundaries and consistency. Sensory requirements, communication being key and why.

Homework: Review your communication, consistency and boundaries as a family. How effective are they? Are they reasonable?

Week 4 – Reasonable Adjustments

Learning Outcomes: Understanding of what reasonable adjustments are, why children need them and the importance of monitoring them.

Homework: Do you have any reasonable adjustments in place? Are they effective and support your child?

Week 5 – Discussing documents to support your child

Learning outcomes - Confidently understand paperwork that may be used and important questions to ask. Understanding that the parents role is during this process.

Homework - Complete different observations of your child.

Week 6 – What support services are available

Learning outcomes - understand what extra support is available to me. Connecting as a family.
